Announcing new Funding Opportunity: Sussex Cancer Fund x SCRC Awards
We are excited to announce a new round of funding provided by the Sussex Cancer Fund (SCF) in partnership with the Sussex Cancer Research Centre (SCRC). The aim of these awards is to support innovative and impactful cancer research for the benefit of people with cancer.
Funding is available across two brackets:
- Awards up to £60k: For projects with significant input from doctors, nurses, or allied health professionals, OR projects with an short term route to patient benefit.
- Awards up to £20k: For projects that do not meet the above criteria but still maintain a strong rationale for how the work will benefit people with cancer.
Joint funding of projects is encouraged.
Deadline to Apply: 28th August 2026

Symposium lineup and last call for poster abstracts
The lineup for our 3rd annual symposium on the 23rd June 2026 is now available.
Students and early career researchers, are invited to present their research as a poster at the symposium, which will make you eligible to win our poster awards. Abstract submission is closing soon (22nd May 2026). To submit a poster abstract please complete the “Submit Poster Abstract” form on the symposium web page (https://sussexcancer.org/symposium).

Participant recruitment for a new fatigue research study: Understanding Fatigue After Breast Cancer Treatment
The recruitment is still open for a new University of Brighton study funded by the Sussex Cancer Fund. The study aims to understand why some women continue to experience fatigue months after completing breast cancer treatment.
Researchers are looking for women aged 18–60 who are:
• Experiencing fatigue following breast cancer treatment (completed within the last 24 months), or
• Healthy and not experiencing fatigue, to join as a comparison group.
Participants will attend a single visit at the University of Brighton’s Falmer campus, completing questionnaires, brief physical tasks, and providing a saliva sample. Your involvement will help improve understanding of cancer-related fatigue and support future care.
