Updates from the SCRC

Updates from the Sussex Cancer Research Centre
The theme of World Cancer Day 2025 is “United by Unique”, which places people at the centre of care, and their stories at the heart of the conversation.
Today the Sussex Cancer Research Centre are announcing the outcomes of our inaugural funding awards, including PhD studentships, creative community engagement awards, and pump-priming awards. Follow the link to learn more about the research we are supporting and read interviews with those leading the projects.
We’re also excited to announce a partnership with the Research Engagement Network and Diversity Resource International to develop a new approach to community engagement.
Combining funding for innovative research projects, with novel and authentic approaches to community engagement, demonstrates that Sussex is at the forefront of cancer research, and uniquely placed to benefit people with lived experience of cancer.
For People with Lived Experience of Cancer

The Lived Experience Voice Blog
One of SCRC core aims is to give a voice to those with lived experience of cancer, allowing their stories to shape the future of cancer research. To do this, we've launched the SCRC Lived Experience Voice Blog — a space where individuals can share their journeys and offer valuable perspectives.
We're excited to start sharing these powerful stories, and today, we invite you to read stories from Markus, Becky, Nicola, Tina, and Di.
