The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration Kent, Surrey and Sussex (ARC KSS) is pleased to announce its next round of Individual Development Awards (IDAs), to help support individuals to build their research careers across the region.
All Awards need to closely align with one or more of the ARC KSS research themes and will be allocated to applicants that can demonstrate a clear path in their career development, as well as evidence of how this award will help them towards their research goals. In return, ARC KSS will provide a bespoke programme of support to successful applicants, including academic and/ or a health or social care professional mentor.

Research Fellow position available: Exploiting chromatin defects to detect and target cancer
An MRC-funded 3 yr postdoc position is available in the Humphrey lab at the Genome Damage and Stability Centre, University of Sussex, to target chromatin defects in cancer. Closing Date: 8th August.
The Brighton Tumour Microenvironment Conference
This conference will discuss the latest developments in tumour microenvironment (TME) research. Multiple members of the Sussex Cancer Research Center are involved along with an exceptional lineup of international speakers. The event will align recent developments in TME research with clinical demands for new predictive and prognostic tumour markers and therapeutic targets for effective treatment of cancer patients. Registration is open now and places are limited. The event is supported by the Sussex Cancer Fund, and takes place on the 21st-22nd Oct 2024, at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront.

Health Research Partnership Conference 2024
Don’t delay in securing your place for this year’s unmissable HRP 2024 Conference, which is being held at the University of Sussex on Thursday 10th October 2024. This is the second annual conference following the launch of the Partnership in 2022, and, as for last year, the event will have sessions with research content from across their research partners, including Public Health, mental health, their work on increasing diversity in research and working with underserved communities. They will also be showcasing our support for healthcare professionals and researchers.

Invitation to Cancer Tech Accelerator Demo Day
Researchers, healthcare professionals, industry professionals, and the general public interested in cancer technology, are all invited to the Cancer Tech Accelerator Demo Day hosted by HGF in Leeds on October 24th.
This showcase will highlight six cancer tech innovators in the Cancer Tech Accelerator, which includes teams creating ventures in AI/ML, diagnostics, drug delivery innovations, and more. Beyond hearing from the founders, it will also be an exciting day with TED style talks on the latest happenings in medtech and networking with like minded investors, researchers, and innovation bodies.
